Migration movements, which have undergone significant changes in recent years, have had a strong impact on social dynamics by contributing to the formation of societies across different regions. In Latin America, where migration has historically been present, population movements have become increasingly characterized by intraregional migration and the feminization of migration. This process has also been shaped by diverse motivations, among which those related to the labor market stand out, with domestic work constituting one of the main sectors of labor market insertion for immigrants. However, this field of activity is associated with the definition of gender roles, as well as with distinct social and labor positions for men and women, suggesting a possible relationship between the sexual division of labor, gender relations, and migration. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the profile of Latin American immigrant women registered in domestic service occupations in Brazil between 2018 and 2024, investigating whether there is a connection with gender dynamics. To this end, the characteristics of Latin American immigrant women were analyzed based on government data from the Sistema de Registro Nacional Migratório (SisMigra) and the Observatório das Migrações em São Paulo. This research is bibliographic in nature and was developed through the analysis of Latin American migration flows to Brazil. The findings indicate that, among immigrants from other Latin American countries who declared, at the time of registration, that they worked in the domestic sector, women predominated. Regarding the characteristics of these women, it was observed that, in general, they come from Venezuela, Paraguay, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Haiti, are concentrated in both border cities and large urban centers, most of them report being single, and largely belong to the economically active age group. These immigrants exhibited the reproduction of patterns associated with gender inequalities and asymmetries, expressed mainly through the sexual segmentation of labor. Furthermore, they were found to be subject to different forms of discrimination and to conditions of precariousness and social vulnerability. The data analysis confirmed the central hypothesis of the study, demonstrating that migration linked to domestic work contributes to the reproduction and perpetuation of preexisting social hierarchies.
