This study aimed to identify and analyze the main challenges and opportunities faced by solar photovoltaic energy companies in the Araranguá/SC region. The research was characterized as applied, with a qualitative-quantitative approach, exploratory and descriptive objectives, using bibliographic research and field research. Data collection was carried out through a structured questionnaire applied to nine companies operating in the commercialization, installation, and maintenance of photovoltaic systems in the region. The results demonstrated that the growth in demand for photovoltaic systems is directly related to the increase in electricity tariffs, the reduction in equipment costs, technological advances, and the availability of financing. Challenges related to regulatory changes were also identified, especially regarding the collection of the TUSD Fio B (a type of electricity distribution tariff), limitations in the electrical infrastructure, and credit conditions. It is concluded that the photovoltaic sector presents high growth potential in the Araranguá region, contributing to regional economic development, diversification of the energy matrix, and the promotion of sustainability, although its expansion depends on overcoming regulatory, financial, and structural challenges.
