Rindo de nervoso: a possibilidade de fenômeno trágico na arte do palhaço

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objetivo criar uma ponte semântica entre o palhaço e o trágico, através de uma observação teórica destes dois temas. Primariamente, definirá os elementos da tragédia e do trágico contando com o aparato bibliográfico sobre as ideias de Aristóteles e de outras discussões posteriores a Schelling. Explanará a história e composição do palhaço e seu sincretismo em outras culturas para além da Europa. Na instância de correlação entre os dois objetos de estudo, destacará a noção de que o palhaço é a encarnação do trágico no cotidiano, comentada por Luís Otávio Burnier, a ideia de tragic clown elaborada por John Wright, assim como as concepções de seriedade e fracasso que permeiam, tanto o trágico, quanto o palhaço. Irá, também, relatar quatro montagens teatrais que usaram do palhaço para encenar tragédias: Romeu e Juilieta - Shakespeare para todos; Édipo Rei – Rei dos bobos; Hamlet: The Clown Prince e Sua Incelença Ricardo III.

This work aims to create a semantic bridge between the clown and the tragic, through a theoretical observation of these two themes. It will primarily define the elements of tragedy and the tragic, relying on a bibliographical apparatus on the ideas of Aristotle and other discussions after Schelling. It will explain the history and composition of the clown and its syncretism in cultures other than Europe. In the instance of correlation between the two objects of study, it will highlight the notion that the clown is the incarnation of the tragic in daily life, commented by Luís Otávio Burnier, the idea of tragic clown elaborated by John Wirght, as well as the conceptions of seriousness and failure that permeate both the tragic and the clown. It will also report four theatrical productions that used the clown to stage tragedies: Romeu e Juilieta - Shakespeare para todos; Édipo Rei – Rei dos bobos; Hamlet: The Clown Prince and Sua Incelença Ricardo III.
