O Elefante de Ferro: a Ponte Hercílio Luz e seu papel urbano.

Abstract

Cartão-postal da capital catarinense, a Ponte Hercílio Luz é um dos mais proeminentes exemplares de ponte pênsil do mundo, enquanto patrimônio artístico e histórico federal em Florianópolis. “A Ponte”, assim carinhosamente chamada, foi palco de uma extensa discussão, dado um longo processo de restauro, alvo de críticas e recorrente pauta de debate civil. O presente trabalho é a primeira parte de uma análise de reconhecimento da opinião coletiva sobre as empreitadas de restauro da referida construção, com recorte temporal inicial deste artigo anterior a sua restauração em 2019; objetiva-se conhecer e posteriormente comparar a transformação de opiniões sobre o reconhecimento do patrimônio histórico e a imagem da cidade. Utilizou-se de bases bibliográficas diretas e ou indiretas e pesquisa de entrevistas com tratamento qualitativo. Conclui-se através das entrevistas que há dualidade entre o saudosismo simbólico e a alegada ineficiência em gestão de recursos do Estado na restauração da Ponte.

Postcard of the capital of Santa Catarina, the Hercílio Luz Bridge is one of the most prominent examples of suspension bridge in the world, as a federal artistic and historical heritage in Florianópolis. “The Bridge”, so affectionately called, was the scene of an extensive discussion, given a long restoration process, the target of criticism and a recurring agenda of civil debate. The present work is the first part of an analysis of recognition of the collective opinion on the restoration works of that construction, with an initial time frame of this article prior to its restoration in 2019; the objective is to know and later compare the transformation of opinions on the recognition of historical heritage and the image of the city. Direct and/or indirect bibliographic databases and interviews with qualitative treatment were used. It is concluded through the interviews that there is a duality between the symbolic nostalgia and the alleged inefficiency in the management of State resources in the restoration of the Bridge.
