O heroi líquido: discutindo o arquétipo do trickster no Popol Vuh e em Deuse Americanos

Abstract

Este trabalho de conclusão ancora-se na literatura comparada para analisar a jornada dos protagonistas de duas obras distintas: Popol Vuh e Deuses Americanos, de Neil Gaiman, evidenciando características semelhantes do trickster no épico e no romance e refletindo sobre a importância do mito associado ao arquétipo. Exporei o limiar entre ficção e realidade, e como o mito e a literatura cumprem sua função de ajudar a compreender o mundo. Também procurarei analisar questões identitárias relacionadas com a modernidade e o colonialismo, haja vista que este processo está em curso e que impacta o desenvolvimento desse ardiloso, e necessário, provocador. O trickster, o trapaceiro, o tolo, é reconhecido pela sua habilidade de se adaptar às mudanças. Suas atitudes não necessariamente o tornam maligno, mas um sobrevivente, incompreendido e marginalizado. Através do diálogo entre essas duas obras, pretendo construir uma ponte para entender não apenas seus andarilhos desajustados, mas também quem eles representam.

This concluding work is anchored in the comparative literature to analyze the journey of the protagonists of two distinct works: Popol Vuh and American Gods of Neil Gaiman, showing similar characteristics of the trickster in the epic and in the novel, and reflecting on the importance of the myth associated with the archetype. I will explore the threshold between fiction and reality, and how myth and literature fulfill their role in helping to understand the world. I will also analyze identity issues related to modernity and colonialismo, given that this process is ongoing and that impacts the development of this cunning, and necessary, provocative. The trickster, the cheater, the fool, is recognized for his ability to adapt to change. His attitudes do not necessarily make him evil, but a survivor, misunderstood and marginalized. Through the dialogue between these two works, the intention is to build a bridge to understand not only their misfits, but who they represent.
