Entre a cruz e a organização partidária: relações entre neopentecostais, Republicanos e Partido Liberal em perspectiva comparada

Abstract

O estudo sobre as interconexões entre religião e política compreende diferentes espectros passíveis de serem abordados, sendo moldado pelas lentes priorizadas para a investigação. A pesquisa corrente buscou alinhar-se à lente partidária, sobretudo a partir da dimensão organizacional, averiguando a presença de atores neopentecostais nos órgãos de direção partidários e o desempenho eleitoral do Republicanos e do Partido Liberal (PL), os quais possuem suas trajetórias intrinsecamente vinculadas ao seguimento iurdiano. Isso se insere em um contexto geral de relevo dos partidos menores e do maior envolvimento evangélico com a política partidária, diante de um sistema partidário fragmentado e de emergência de uma nova direita. Como se dá a relação entre as organizações partidárias do Republicanos e do PL e as organizações confessionais, em especial iurdianas, sobretudo a partir das bases materiais dos partidos, dos seus momentos genéticos e dos perfis das lideranças? De modo geral, ficou patente a forte presença de personalidades ligadas à IURD na fundação do Republicanos em 2005, mas também a presença crucial de algumas dessas personalidades para o crescimento do então PL, do final da década de 1980 até 2006, quando o partido deu lugar ao PR. Essa mesma dinâmica também foi observada quando se investigou a composição dos órgãos de direção partidária de ambas as agremiações. Ademais, quanto à organização dos órgãos partidários, verificou-se a incidência continuada do instituto das Comissões Provisórias nos dois partidos, sugerindo concentração de poder nas mãos das elites dirigentes que, no caso do Republicanos, coincidem com as iurdianas e, no do PL, são mais diversificadas. De todo modo, a temática da interpenetração entre religião e política, sob os mais diferentes aspectos, é relevante para pensar no nível de canalização e de expressão de demandas no âmago dos partidos e da sociedade.

Abstract: The study on the interconnections between religion and politics comprises different spectra that can be addressed, being shaped by the lenses prioritized for the investigation. Current research sought to align itself with the party lens, especially from the organizational dimension, investigating the presence of neo-Pentecostal actors in the party governing bodies and the electoral performance of the Republicans and the Liberal Party (PL), which have their trajectories intrinsically linked to the Universal Church of Kingdom of God (IURD). This is part of a general context of minor parties and greater evangelical involvement with party politics, in the face of a fragmented party system and the emergence of a new right. How does the relationship between the Republican and PL party organizations take place and the confessional organizations, in particular from IURD ones, especially from the parties' material bases, their genetic moments and the profiles of the leaders? In general, the strong presence of IURD-related personalities was evident in the founding of the Republicans in 2005, but also the crucial presence of some of these personalities for the growth of the then PL, from the late 1980s until 2006, when the party gave place to PR. This same dynamic was also observed when investigating the composition of the party governing bodies of both associations. Furthermore, regarding the organization of party bodies, there was a continued incidence of the Provisional Commissions institute in both parties, suggesting a concentration of power in the hands of the ruling elites who, in the case of the Republicans, coincide with those from IURD and, in the PL, are more diverse. In any case, the theme of interpenetration between religion and politics, under the most different aspects, is relevant to think about the level of channeling and the expression of demands at the heart of the parties and society.
