Getúlio Vargas e o Pensamento Político Brasileiro

Abstract

Este trabalho é constituído pelo esforço de circundar o pensamento político, não o pensamento de um autor específico ou intelectual estabelecido no âmbito acadêmico, mas o pensamento de um ator político de primeira grandeza, uma figura histórica. Sem nos legar um pensamento político, de forma direta, Getúlio Vargas foi um político fecundo no campo da prática. Desta maneira busca-se neste trabalho destrinchar as ideias e a filosofia que deram base as suas ações práticas, com isso entendendo seu projeto político, seus discursos e a sua visão de mundo. Pretende-se explicitar a filosofia chave para entender o pensamento de Vargas, o positivismo, corrente filosófica de origem francesa desenvolvida por Augusto Comte. Utiliza-se o conceito de pensamento político, conforme estabelecido por Raimundo Faoro em 1987. Objetiva-se distinguir pensamento político de ideologia e também da filosofia política propriamente. Observando o período de formação de Vargas se pretende entender como a filosofia positivista - entendida em uma de suas interpretações, a do Partido Republicano Riograndense - influenciou Getúlio. Pretende-se atentar também para os discursos de Vargas nos anos iniciais do Estado Novo para perceber a influência positivista e como ela ainda aparecia na maturidade do político, tanto em seu vocabulário quanto nas ideias sobre a política.

This paper is constituted by the effort to surround the political thought, not the thought of a specific author or intellectual established in the academic scope, but to study the thought of a historical figure. Without giving us a political thought, directly, Getúlio Vargas was a fruitful politician in the field of practice. Thus, this paper seeks to throw the lights on the ideas and philosophy that underpinned its practical actions, thereby understanding its political project, discourses and worldview. The key philosophy for understanding Vargas's thinking is the positivism, a philosophical current of French origin developed by Augusto Comte. In turn, the main concept is political thought, that is used as established by Raimundo Faoro in 1987. The aim is to make clear the difference between political thought from ideology and also from political philosophy. Observing Vargas' formation, one intends to understand how the positivist philosophy - understood in one of its interpretations, that of the Republican Party of Rio Grande do Sul - influenced Getúlio. Attention should also be paid to Vargas' discourses in the early years of the Estado Novo to see if the positivist influence still appeared from the politician's maturity, both in his vocabulary and in his ideas about politics.
