Olhar, (não) ouvir, escrever: uma autoetnografia ciborgue

Abstract

A metodologia de caráter etnográfico é o objeto de reflexão da presente tese, que tem como objetivo discutir a influência da surdez no fazer antropológico, tomando como foco da análise a minha experiência como antropóloga surda, a partir de uma perspectiva autoetnográfica. Toma-se como ponto de partida o princípio estabelecido de que o ouvir é uma dimensão central da pesquisa qualitativa, e especificamente, da pesquisa etnográfica. Os desafios metodológicos têm como base O trabalho do antropólogo: olhar, ouvir, escrever, de Roberto Cardoso de Oliveira (2006). O referencial teórico e metodológico abrange os estudos sobre percepção e cognição que consideram as questões do corpo e das deficiências sensoriais, os estudos sobre deficiência, os estudos interseccionais, a teoria queer/crip, a autoetnografia, a teoria do ator-rede e a noção de ciborgue. O meu olhar, (não) ouvir e escrever etnográficos unificados como atos cognitivos disciplinados pela teoria antropológica só conseguem captar o ?excedente de sentido? proporcionado por um ?verdadeiro encontro etnográfico? quando se compreende que, numa relação entre a antropóloga e os interlocutores, os dados só poderão ser acessados se se levar em conta as minhas experiências perceptivas como pessoa surda em interação com humanos e não humanos. Assim, a experiência etnográfica e sua relação com os sentidos (da visão e audição) revelaram-se uma dimensão nova para se pensar o método etnográfico, questionando e problematizando os limites e oportunidades do meu fazer antropológico.<br>

Abstract : Ethnographic methodology is the central focus of reflection of this thesis. The goal is to discuss the influence of deafness on anthropological practice, using as a focus for analysis my own experience as a deaf anthropologist, from the autoethnographic perspective. The starting point is that listening is considered to be a central dimension of qualitative research, and specifically ethnographic research. The methodological challenges are based on the text ?O trabalho do antropólogo: olhar, ouvir, escrever? / ?The work of the anthropologist: look, listen, write?, by Roberto Cardoso de Oliveira (2006). The theoretical and methodological framework includes studies on perception and cognition that consider issues of body and the sensory disabilities, disability studies, intersectional studies, queer/crip theory, autoethnography, actor-network theory, and the notion of cyborg. My look, (not) listen, and write unified as cognitive acts disciplined by anthropological theory can only capture ?the surplus of meaning? (which is provided by a ?true ethnographic encounter?) when it is understood that ? in a relationship between the anthropologist and the interlocutors ? the data can only be accessed if one takes into account my perceptive experiences as a deaf person in interaction with humans and nonhumans. Thus the ethnographic experience and its relation with the senses (of sight and hearing) have revealed a new dimension to be taken into account on the ethnographic method, questioning and problematizing the limits and opportunities of my anthropological work.
