Na selva oscura do tempo presente: a (re)posição de Dante em face a novas comédias paródicas

Abstract

Esta tese registra a efetivação de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, em nível de doutorado acadêmico, sobre as relações dialógicas envolvendo os romances brasileiros do século XXI A Divina Paródia, de Álvaro Cardoso Gomes, e Purgatório, de Mário Prata, para com a obra Divina Comédia, de Dante Alighieri. A abordagem se dá pelo viés dos estudos comparados entre teologia e literatura (teopoética ou teoliteratura), revisitando conceitos teóricos dessas duas grandes áreas, em particular no relativo aos estados escatológicos conforme a formulação da teologia cristã-católica. O estudo ratifica que o diálogo entre as três obras em leitura acontece por meio da paródia, em seu caráter subversivo. Indica, também, que a brecha viabilizadora dos contra-cantos de Gomes e de Prata em relação ao canto de Alighieri é a falta de atualização do discurso religioso sobre o post mortem. Por fim, infere que o recurso da paródia não impacta a poesia de Dante em si, mas demonstra o envelhecimento da antiga escatologia alegórica cristã empregada literariamente pelo poeta florentino e ainda utilizada na pregação religiosa hodierna.

Abstract : This thesis registers a bibliographic research for achieving the Doctor s academic degree on the dialogical relations regarding the 21st century Brazilian novels A Divina Paródia (The Divine Parody), by Álvaro Cardoso Gomes, Purgatório (Purgatory), by Mário Prata, and The Divine Comedy, by Dante Alighieri. These works are approached through the comparative studies of theology and literature (theopoetic), by revisiting theoretical concepts of these two great areas, especially regarding the scatological states as seen by the Christian-catholic theology. This study confirms that the relation between the three novels happens through parody, in its subversive character. The study also points to a rift that makes possible the counter-cantos of Gomes and Prata in relation to Dante s cantos: the lack of update in the religious discourse about the post mortem. Finally, the study suggests that the use of parody does not affect Dante s poetry, but shows how old have grown the ancient allegories of Christian scatology used in the Florentine poet s book, and which are still used in religious speeches nowadays.
