Sambaquis e Museus: relações entre acervos in situ e ex situ

Abstract

Os sambaquis são sítios arqueológicos e, como tais, são considerados patrimônio nacional e protegidos pela Lei Federal nº 3.924/1961. A partir de uma perspectiva museológica, propomos visualizar os sítios arqueológicos, do tipo sambaqui, a partir de dois tipos de acervos: os acervos in situ, relacionados às áreas dos sítios arqueológicos, propriamente ditas, e os acervos ex situ constituídos pelos vestígios arqueológicos provenientes dessas áreas, que foram retirados ao longo do tempo e estão dispersos em coleções particulares, reservas técnicas e instituições museológicas. O presente trabalho compreende uma pesquisa bibliográfica associada a um levantamento de campo com o intuito de descrever as relações e as possibilidades de articulação entre os acervos in situ e ex situ dos sítios arqueológicos e os museus, visando auxiliar nos programas de interpretação, pesquisa e educação dessas áreas de maneira a ampliar a comunicação com os públicos e, consequentemente, contribuindo para a preservação. dos sambaquis. A pesquisa bibliográfica versou sobre os temas “sambaquis”, “patrimônio cultural”, “museus e Museologia” e “conservação, interpretação e apresentação de sítios do patrimônio cultural”. A pesquisa de campo compreendeu a visita a dois museus com exposições sobre sambaquis e a três sítios arqueológicos com informações ou estrutura para visitação. A análise dos sítios arqueológicos compreendeu os seguintes tópicos: identificação da instituição vinculada e outras instituições partícipes, características atuais do sitio e seu entorno, estrutura de apresentação e interpretação, entre outros. Ao final do trabalho procuraremos descrever por meio de um diagrama como observamos a situação dos sítios arqueológicos e os caminhos que seus acervos ex situ podem seguir até chegar aos museus.

Shell Mounds (sambaquis) are archaeological sites and, as such, are considered as National Patrimony and protected by Brazilian Federal Law No. 3,924/1961. From a museological perspective, we propose to visualize sambaqui (shell mound) archaeological sites as two types of collections: the in-situ collections, related to the areas of the archaeological sites, and the ex-situ collections constituted by the archaeological remains of these areas, which have been removed over time and are scattered in private collections, technical reserves, or museum institutions. The present work comprises a bibliographical research associated to a field survey with the purpose of describing the relations and the possibilities of articulation between archeological sites in-situ and ex-situ collections and the museums, aiming to help in the interpretation, research and education programs concerning these areas, to enhance and improve communication with the public and, consequently, contribute to “shell mounds” preservation. The bibliographic research focused on keywords such as "shell mounds", "cultural heritage", "museums and Museology" and "conservation, interpretation and presentation of cultural heritage sites". The field research included a visit to two museums with exhibitions on shell mounds and three archaeological sites with information or structure for visitation. The analysis of archaeological sites comprised the following topics: identification of the linked institution and other participating institutions, current characteristics of the site and its environment, structure of presentation and interpretation, among others. At the end of the work we will try to describe by means of a diagram how we observe archaeological sites situation and the different paths that ex-situ collections follow until arriving at the museums and from there on.
