A influência de dentifrícios com agente dessensibilizante na dor induzida por clareamento dental de consultório

Abstract

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar se o uso de dentifrícios dessensibilizantes antes e após as sessões de clareamento dental de consultório eliminariam ou reduziriam a sensibilidade dental. Quarenta e cinco sujeitos, divididos em três grupos, participaram deste estudo clínico duplo-cego randomizado. Quinze dias antes do clareamento de consultório os participantes foram divididos aleatoriamente em 3 diferentes grupos: Colgate Total 12 (CT), Colgate Sensitive Pro-Alívio (CS) e Sensodyne Pró-Esmalte (SP), escovando 3vezes ao dia. A escala visual analógica (EVA) foi utilizada para avaliar a sensibilidade dental após as sessões de clareamento. Duas sessões foram realizadas para cada paciente com uma semana de intervalo entre elas. Também foi aferida a mudança de cor com auxílio da escala Vitapan Classical para determinar se influenciariam na efetividade do agente de clareamento. A análise estatística utilizou os seguintes testes: Wilcoxon, Kruskal-Wallis e Mann-Whitney. Foram considerados estatisticamente significantes valores de ?=0,05. O uso dos dentifrícios não afetou a eficácia do clareamento. Para a sensibilidade dental houve diferença estatisticamente significativa entre os resultados do grupo CT e SP após a primeira sessão (p=0,048).

The purpose of this study was to assess whether the use of desensitizing dentifrices prior to and after in-office tooth bleaching sessions would eliminate or reduce the tooth sensitivity. Forty-five subjects, divided in three groups, participated in this doubleblind randomized clinical trial. Fifteen days before in-office bleaching the participants were randomly divided in 3 different groups: Colgate Total 12 (CT), Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief (CS) or Sensodyne ProNamel (SP), brushing 3times per day. Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was used to assess tooth sensitivity after in-office bleaching sessions. Two sessions were scheduled within one week between them. Also, shade change was evaluated using a VITA Classical shade guide to determine if the dentifrices had influenced in the effectiveness of the bleaching agent. The statistical analysis used the following tests: Wilcoxon, Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney. Were considered statistically significant values of á=.05. The use of desensitizing dentifrices did not affect the bleaching efficacy. For tooth sensitivity there was statistically significantly difference between the results of the Control Group and Group SP after the first session (p= .048).
