dc.description.abstract Abstract: This thesis investigates the relationship between philosophy and literature in light of the problem of the meaning of life and the limits of language in expressing human existence. Drawing on Ludwig Wittgenstein?s diagnosis of the inability of conceptual language to grasp the absolute value of life, the study advances the hypothesis that other forms of expression, particularly literature, may constitute a legitimate space for philosophical reflection. It argues that the philosophical tradition, by privileging a technical and specialized language, has gradually distanced itself from concrete dimensions of human experience, thereby excluding, among others, children as interlocutors of fundamental existential questions. In contrast, literary language, through narratives, images, and characters, places the reader before these questions, without relying exclusively on abstract concepts. Inspired by Janyne Sattler?s proposals, the research articulates the concepts of literarily engaged philosophy and autonomously philosophical literature, seeking not only to discuss but also to enact this relationship within the writing of the thesis itself. To this end, it draws on the works of Fyodor Dostoevsky, Albert Camus, and Clarice Lispector, examining how their narratives give rise to philosophical reflection on suffering, freedom, absurdity, and identity. The thesis adopts the epistolary form, addressing letters to children in order to preserve the depth of philosophical inquiry without resorting to the technical language of academic philosophy. The study unfolds through three movements: an analysis of Wittgenstein?s account of the limits of language, an exploration of the approximation between philosophy and literature as a methodological alternative, and the enactment of this approximation within the text itself. It argues that literature can open a space for philosophical inquiry capable of approaching the meaning of life in a way that remains closer to the concrete experience of human existence, especially where conceptual language reaches its limits. en
