Espaços métricos e métrica de Hausdorff: fundamentos dos fractais por SFI

Abstract

Este trabalho explora a matemática por trás dos fractais gerados por Sistemas de Funções Iteradas (SFI), partindo das propriedades fundamentais dos espaços métricos — como completude e compacidade — para estruturar o espaço de Hausdorff. Investigamos, então, como a métrica de Hausdorff atua sobre contrações e garante, pelo Teorema do Ponto Fixo de Banach, a existência e unicidade de atratores. Para conectar teoria e prática, analisamos construções clássicas, como o conjunto de Cantor, e mostramos como a iteração de transformações simples pode gerar belas estruturas complexas, guiadas pela beleza presente na rigorosidade matemática.

This work explores the mathematics behind fractals generated by Iterated Function Systems (IFS), starting from the fundamental properties of metric spaces — such as completeness and compactness — to structure the Hausdorff space. We then investigate how the Hausdorff metric acts on contractions and ensures, through Banach's Fixed Point Theorem, the existence and uniqueness of attractors. To bridge theory and practice, we analyze classical constructions, such as the Cantor set, and show how the iteration of simple transformations can generate beautiful complex structures, guided by the beauty inherent in mathematical rigor.
