O impacto das mudanças climáticas no patrimônio cultural material: Uma análise da produção científica entre os anos 2014-2024

Abstract

Eventos climáticos extremos como inundações e secas causam danos e perdas a bens patrimoniais, impactando diretamente a identidade e memória das comunidades. Diante desse cenário, a pesquisa busca identificar e analisar estudos sobre os impactos das mudanças climáticas no patrimônio edificado no Brasil e no mundo, além das ações de adaptação em curso. Foi realizada uma busca estruturada nas bases de dados Scielo, Web of Science e Scopus, que resultou na seleção de 14 artigos publicados entre 2014 e 2024. A pesquisa revela uma escassez de estudos sobre o tema na América Latina, especialmente no Brasil. Os estudos analisados demonstram a variedade de impactos das mudanças climáticas no patrimônio edificado, incluindo danos físicos à estrutura dos bens, deterioração de materiais e perda de valor cultural. Em relação às estratégias de adaptação, observou-se basicamente três caminhos a serem seguidos, considerando o nível de exposição e de vulnerabilidade: a) manutenção da edificação no local, com intervenções que promovam a sua adaptação e proteção; b) realocação das edificações mais expostas; e c) registro e documentação das estruturas que inevitavelmente serão perdidas.

Extreme climate events such as floods and droughts cause damage and losses to heritage assets, directly impacting the identity and memory of communities. Given this scenario, the research seeks to identify and analyze studies on the impacts of climate change on built heritage in Brazil and worldwide, in addition to ongoing adaptation actions. A structured search was conducted in the Scielo, Web of Science and Scopus databases, which resulted in the selection of 14 articles published between 2014 and 2024. The research reveals a scarcity of studies on the subject in Latin America, especially in Brazil. The studies analyzed demonstrate the variety of impacts of climate change on built heritage, including physical damage to the structure of assets, deterioration of materials and loss of cultural value. Regarding adaptation strategies, the studies show that there are basically three paths to be followed, considering the level of exposure and vulnerability: a) maintenance of the building in place, with interventions that promote its adaptation and protection; b) relocation of the most exposed buildings; and c) recording and documenting structures that will inevitably be lost.
