A chave da memória: Segunda Guerra Mundial, convivências e ditadura militar nos testemunhos literários de Yvonne Jean

Abstract

A trajetória da jornalista de origem belga Yvonne Jean foi composta por dois momentos extremos: uma travessia atlântica fugindo do nazismo e da Segunda Guerra Mundial no ano de 1940 e sua prisão política no ano de 1964. É possível verificar em seu acervo que Yvonne lidou com essas experiências escrevendo para cada uma delas um testemunho. No primeiro deles, intitulado Diário de Guerra, ela descreveu sua fuga junto a família desde a Bélgica até chegar no Brasil. Já o segundo texto, A Chave, foi datilografado depois que Yvonne teve acesso a uma máquina de escrever dentro da prisão. Nele, ela narrou seu dia a dia naquele ambiente através de uma metáfora com a chave da cela. Ainda durante o contexto da Ditadura Militar, a autora escreveu e editou textos autobiográficos na intenção de publicá-los, dentre eles o manuscrito Tomei chá com o imperador da China, no qual revela seus encontros com personalidades com as quais conviveu como jornalista, e um possível romance sobre sua vida. Partindo de seu acervo pessoal, o Fundo Yvonne Jean, localizado no Arquivo Público do Distrito Federal (APDF), analiso os textos autobiográficos de Yvonne Jean levando em consideração sua historicidade e seus elementos sócio-históricos. Ao utilizar a trajetória dela como fio condutor que liga, portanto, essas narrativas, também investigo suas experiências de atuação política em contextos e limites impostos pelo tempo, a exemplo da Segunda Guerra Mundial, de sua atuação como jornalista no Rio de Janeiro, na cidade de Brasília e seus últimos anos de vida marcados pela Ditadura Militar no Brasil. Busco, assim, compreender as relações entre memória, testemunho e trajetória a partir dos escritos literários de Yvonne.

Abstract: The Belgian journalist Yvonne Jean?s life was marked by two extreme moments: an Atlantic crossing fleeing Nazism and the Second World War in 1940, as well as her political arrest in 1964. It is possible to verify in her recollections that Yvonne dealt with these experiences by writing a testimony for each one of them. In the first one, entitled War Diary, she described her escape with her family from Belgium and their arrival in Brazil. The second text, The Key, was typed after Yvonne had access to a typewriter inside the prison, in which she narrated her daily life in that environment through a metaphor with the cell key. Still during the context of the Military Dictatorship, Yvonnw wrote and edited autobiographical texts with the intention of publishing them, among them the manuscript I Had Tea with the Emperor of China, which reveals her encounters with personalities with whom she met as a journalist, and a possible novel about her life. Starting from her personal collection, the Yvonne Jean Fund, located in the Federal District Public Archive (APDF), I analyse Yvonne Jean's autobiographical texts taking into account their historicity and socio-historical elements. By using her trajectory as a guiding thread that connects these narratives, I also investigate her political action experiences in contexts and limits imposed by time, such as the Second World War, her work as a journalist in Rio de Janeiro, in the city of Brasília and the last years of her life marked by the Military Dictatorship in Brazil. I therefore seek to understand the relationships between memory, testimony and trajectory based on Yvonne's literarywritings.
