Rastros do exílio: o acervo de Jorge Amado (1941-1942)

Abstract

Minha tese percorre rastros do exílio nos documentos do Acervo Jorge Amado, guardados no núcleo Literatura e Memória (nuLIME CCE ? UFSC), categorizados e classificados para facilitar a compreensão sobre a sua riqueza material. Procuro demonstrar a relevância da criação literária inédita do escritor Jorge Amado, nos anos de 1941 e 1942, quando esteve exilado no Uruguai e na Argentina, e a importância destes inéditos entre os 1543 itens que compõem o Acervo. Em cada capítulo deste trabalho há descrição do Acervo; assim há capítulos sobre correspondências, literatura produzida de outros autores e a literatura produzida pelo escritor, dando ênfase ao romance inédito. Minhas hipóteses em direção à tese procuraram mostrar que o abandono dos fólios no exílio, especialmente o abandono do romance inacabado, aconteceram por compromisso político partidário; pelo contexto social e político brasileiro que afetaria a recepção da obra do escritor e, por fim, a própria construção dos personagens que estaria em discordância com o modelo de literatura ideal para escritores alinhados com as diretrizes do PCB.

Abstract: My thesis cover traces of the exile in the documents of the Jorge Amado Collection, preserved in the Literature and Memory Center (nuLIME CCE - UFSC), categorized and classified for better understanding of their material richness. I intend to demonstrate the relevance of the unpublished literary creations of the writer Jorge Amado, during the years 1941 and 1942, when he was exiled in Uruguay and Argentina, and the significance of these unpublished works among the 1543 items that comprise the Collection. Each chapter of this work includes a description of the Collection; with sections on correspondences, literature produced by other authors, and the literature produced by the writer, with emphasis on the unpublished novel. My hypotheses for this thesis aimed to show that the abandonment of these manuscripts during exile, especially the abandonment of the unfinished novel, occurred due to political party commitments; the Brazilian social and political context that would influence the reception of the writer's work and, finally, the construction itself of the characters that would be in disagreement with the ideal model of literature for writers aligned with the guidelines of the PCB (Brazilian Communist Party).
