Clareamento em dentes não vitais: revisão de literatura

Abstract

O clareamento em dentes não-vitais é uma técnica minimamente invasiva e eficaz como alternativa a outros tratamentos, como facetas e coroas, para dentes escurecidos. Esse estudo teve como objetivo realizar uma revisão narrativa da literatura sobre o clareamento de dentes não vitais, abordando informações relevantes em relação aos agentes clareadores, as técnicas possíveis de serem empregadas e as adversidades desse tratamento. Para o levantamento dos artigos, foi realizada uma estratégia de busca nas bases de dados eletrônicas PubMed/NIH, LILACS/BVS, Embase/Elsevier, Cochrane Library e SciELO, empregando as combinações de descritores “dente não-vital” e “clareamento dental”, bem como seus sinônimos, em português, inglês e espanhol, permeados pelos corretos operadores Booleanos, datados de 2011 a 2023. Também foi realizada uma busca adicional na literatura cinzenta (Google Acadêmico) e nas listas de referências dos artigos selecionados. Os critérios de inclusão foram artigos nas três línguas informadas e período de tempo determinado que fossem pertinentes ao tema e com acesso disponível na íntegra. Foram identificados 622 estudos nas diferentes bases de dados, 3260 na literatura cinzenta e 1937 da lista de referências dos artigos incluídos. Após a leitura do título e do resumo, permaneceram 78 artigos para leitura completa. Ao final, 56 trabalhos foram incluídos neste estudo. O clareamento de dentes não-vitais continua uma opção favorável e conservadora como tratamento do escurecimento, independente da técnica ou agente clareador utilizado, e seus efeitos colaterais possuem baixa incidência, necessitando mais estudos.

The bleaching of non-vital teeth is an effective and minimally invasive technique offering an alternative to other treatments, such as veneers and crowns, for discolored nonvital teeth. This study aimed to conduct a literature review on the bleaching of nonvital teeth, covering relevant information related to whitening agents, techniques and potential adversities of this treatment. A search strategy was employed across several electronic databases including PubMed/NIH, LILACS/BVS, Embase/Elsevier, Cochrane Library and SciELO. Combinations of the keywords “nonvital tooth” and “bleaching”, as their synonyms also in Portuguese, English and Spanish permeated by the correct Boolean operators, dated from 2011 to 2023, were used. Additionally, a supplementary search was conducted in the gray literature (Google Scholar) and the reference lists of selected articles. Inclusion criteria encompassed articles written in any of the three languages specified within the given timeframe, which were relevant to the topic and accessible in full as open access publications. Initially, 622 studies were identified across various databases, with an additional 3,260 from the gray literature and 1,937 from the reference list of included articles. After evaluating the titles and abstracts, 78 articles remained for complete reading. Ultimately, 56 works were included in this study. The bleaching of non-vital teeth remains a viable and conservative option for addressing discoloration, regardless of bleaching’s technique or agent used. Moreover, the incidence of side effects associated with this treatment is relatively low. However, it is crucial to note that further studies are required to comprehensively assess the long-term effects and optimize the bleaching procedures for non-vital teeth.
