Amazônia Maranhense, Cerrado e Comunidades: o “olhar” do design sobre o contexto ambiental

Abstract

Este trabalho busca compreender o contexto da Amazônia Legal no Estado do Maranhão e sua influência no desenvolvimento do território, sobre os aspectos ambientais e socioculturais. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, de revisão bibliográfica, fundamentada nas práticas sociais do design. Uma das uma das ações do PROCAD - Programa Nacional de Cooperação Acadêmica na Amazônia. A Amazônia Maranhense representa 3% do território amazônico brasileiro. Não foi possível constatar durante a pesquisa, ações eficazes que apontem incentivos de preservação. Após as análises, ocorreu os estudos sobre os biomas, especialmente em espécies vegetais para produção artesanal. Verificou-se que há um potencial para o desenvolvimento do artesanato local, com as contribuições de designers.

This paper seeks to understand the context of the Legal Amazon in the State of Maranhão and its influence on the development of the territory, on environmental and sociocultural aspects. This is a qualitative research, of bibliographic review, based on the social practices of design. One of the actions of PROCAD - National Program for Academic Cooperation in the Amazon. The Maranhão Amazon represents 3% of the Brazilian Amazon territory. It was not possible to verify during the research, effective actions that point to preservation incentives. After the analyses, the studies on the biomes occurred, especially on vegetable species for handicraft production. It was verified that there is a potential for the development of local handicrafts, with the contributions of designers.
