Implicações e desafios impostos à hegemonia do dólar americano pelas criptomoedas

Abstract

Este estudo analisa os desafios criados à hegemonia do dólar americano diante da ascensão das criptomoedas. Com o objetivo de compreender quais as influências exercidas pelo avanço da tecnologia dos criptoativos sobre a hegemonia norte-americana, visualizando em quais estágios se encontram, tanto o dólar americano, quanto as criptomoedas, em especial o Bitcoin. Através de uma análise aprofundada sobre os regimes monetários recentes implementados e substituídos, constrói-se base de conhecimento para entender os desafios atuais percorridos e se estes, são capazes de interferir diante da hegemonia atual. Diversas moedas competem por seu espaço no Sistema Monetário Internacional, entretanto apenas a mais qualificada sobre as características de meio de troca, reserva de valor e unidade de conta é capaz de se destacar como moeda chave do Sistema Monetário Internacional

This study analyzes the challenges created to the hegemony of the US dollar in the face of the rise of cryptocurrencies. The objective is to understand the influences exerted by the advancement of crypto-asset technology on the North American hegemony, visualizing in which stages both the US dollar and the cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin, are in. Through an in-depth analysis of the recently implemented and replaced monetary regimes, a knowledge base is built to understand the current challenges faced and whether these are capable of interfering with the current hegemony. Several currencies compete for their space in the International Monetary System, however only the most qualified on the characteristics of means of exchange, store of value and unit of account is able to stand out as a key currency of the International Monetary System.
