A importãncia do mergulho recreativo como vivência para desenvolver a cultura oceânica

Abstract

Os impactos antrópicos nos oceanos vêm aumentando drasticamente, e como apontam diversas pesquisas e produções acadêmicas, a elaboração de medidas de mitigação, principalmente através da educação ambiental e atividades que a promovam tais como o mergulho recreativo, tem se tornado cada vez mais fundamental para a preservação dos oceanos. A partir desta perspectiva, este trabalho buscou correlacionar o nível de certificação de mergulhadores recreativos com seu conhecimento a respeito de impactos antrópicos nos oceanos e seu conhecimento oceanográfico geral, buscando relacionar também a certificação e o engajamento dos participantes. Para obter estes resultados, foi aplicado a 113 mergulhadores que já frequentaram a ilha do Xavier (Florianópolis-SC) um questionário semi-estruturado dividido em 4 partes (perfil do mergulhador, impactos antrópicos, conhecimento oceanográfico e engajamento). Para análise da variabilidade de respostas foi utilizado o teste de Kruskall-Wallis nas perguntas sobre impacto antrópico e conhecimento oceanográfico. Já para o engajamento foi utilizado o PCA. A partir dos resultados do processo de análise foi possível ver que a atividade do mergulho recreativo tem o potencial de aumentar o engajamento de seus participantes, mas não foi possível ver a promoção de um aumento no engajamento por conhecimento, também foi possível descrever o perfil dos mergulhadores envolvidos.

The anthropic impacts on the oceans have been increasing drastically, and as several research papers and other academic productions have shown, the elaboration of mitigation measures, especially through environmental education, and activites that promote it like scuba diving has become increasingly fundamental for the preservation of the oceans. From this perspective, this work sought to correlate the certification level of recreational divers with their knowledge of human impact on the oceans and their general oceanographic knowledge. The present work also turns to the connection certification and participant engagement. To obtain such results, a semi structured questionnaire divided into 4 parts (diver profile, human impacts, oceanographic knowledge and engagement) was applied to 113 divers who have visited Xavier Island (Florianópolis-SC). To analyze the variability of responses, the Kruskall-Wallis test was used in questions about anthropic impact and oceanographic knowledge. For engagement, the PCA was used. From the results of the analysis process used in the present work seeing that the recreational diving activity has the potential to increase the engagement of its participants, but it was not possible to see the promotion of an increase in engagement through knowledge, it was also possible to describe the profile of the divers involved.
