Uma avaliação dos efeitos advindos de inseticidas organossintéticos sobre abelhas Apis mellifera (Linnaeus, 1758) no Brasil [Revisão da Literatura]

Abstract

Os polinizadores são considerados os principais agentes responsáveis pelo funcionamento e equilíbrio dos ecossistemas. Entre eles, as abelhas constituem um dos componentes principais neste processo. No entanto, o uso indiscriminado de agrotóxicos em culturas agrícolas no Brasil e no mundo têm provocado impactos extremamente nocivos sobre a diversidade e quantidade destes insetos. Inúmeros estudos apontam que a diminuição da produtividade em diversas culturas, e o desaparecimento de várias espécies de abelhas, podem estar diretamente relacionados ao uso de inseticidas. Desta forma, o presente estudo teve como objetivo revisar informações disponíveis na literatura sobre os efeitos (letais e/ou subletais) de inseticidas utilizados em culturas agrícolas no Brasil sobre as abelhas Apis mellifera. Esta revisão encontra-se estruturada em três partes. A primeira parte discorre sobre a origem, biologia e organização social de abelhas A. mellifera. A segunda parte contextualiza através de uma abordagem histórica a introdução dos agrotóxicos na agricultura mundial, além disso, apresenta aspectos da Legislação Brasileira para o registro e uso de agrotóxicos. Por fim, foram destacados os principais grupos químicos de inseticidas e seus efeitos sobre abelhas A. mellifera.

Insect pollinators are among the most important agents responsible for maintaining equilibrium in major ecosystems. Naturally, the honey bee is the most vital component of this complex, yet necessary process. Nonetheless, indiscriminate use of pesticides and other chemicals in agriculture has caused a severe impact upon biodiversity, affecting all forms of life, including insects. Numerous studies suggest that the ongoing decrease in cultures productivity, and the disappearing of many different species of bees, may be directly associated with insecticides abuse. Therefore, this review seeks to analyze existing literature regarding the effect (whether lethal or sublethal) provoked by insecticides in Brazilian agriculture upon the western honey bee A. mellifera. This literature review has been split into three sections. The first section is dedicated to comprehending the origin, biology and social organization of bees. Second half consists of an historical review and introduction of insecticides into the global agricultural scenario. Furthermore, legislative and regulatory aspects of Brazilian perspective on the subject will be highlighted. Finally, main chemical groups of insecticides and their effects on A. mellifera will conclude this review.
