Lesões de mancha branca em pacientes com aparelho ortodôntico fixo:revisão de literatura

Abstract

Tornou-se cada vez mais frequente o uso de aparelhos ortodônticos, pois as pessoas procuram um perfil estético com dentes em posição adequada na arcada, trazendo função e harmonia facial. Entretanto, estes suportes ortodônticos podem ter efeitos colaterais como desenvolvimento de lesões de mancha branca. Este trabalho teve como objetivo realizar uma revisão de literatura sobre a relação entre as lesões de mancha branca nas superfícies dentais e o uso de aparelho ortodôntico fixo, correlacionando-as com outros fatores como higiene bucal, sexo e duração de tratamento, mostrando os dentes mais acometidos por essa alteração, sua incidência, bem como a região do dente em que aparecem com maior frequência. Nos estudos citados, a higiene oral inadequada teve relação direta com o aparecimento das lesões, e em alguns houve divergência nos resultados quando a lesão foi relacionada com sexo e duração do tratamento.

It has become increasingly common use of orthodontic appliances, as people seek an aesthetic profile with teeth into proper position in the arch, bringing function and facial harmony, but these orthodontic devices can have side effects such as development of white spot lesions. This study aimed to conduct a literature review on the relationship between the white spot lesions on tooth surfaces and the use of fixed orthodontic appliance, correlating them with other factors such as oral hygiene, sex and duration of treatment, showing more teeth affected by this change, its impact and the area of the tooth that they appear more frequently. Under these studies, poor oral hygiene had a direct relationship with the appearance of the lesions, and in some there was divergence in the results when the injury was related to sex and duration of treatment.
