Author: Antonelli, Patrick Viana e Silva
The main objective of this project is to analyze the importance of the project manager in the knowledge organizations scenario. The project was done through a study case, which is classified as descriptive, bibliographic, and documental despite its qualitative character. The data was collected, besides bibliographic research, through participative observation and structured interview. The instruments used to collect the data were the field diary for the observations, a questionnaire with open questions and a tape recorder for the interviews, always respecting the projects main objectives and the defined analysis categories. The data and information collected were analyzed and filtered in order to contribute for the construction of pertinent conclusions within the chosen scenario. The society is entering the knowledge era where the intellectual capital is extremely valuable and the companies' structures have changed. The project manager is very important to these new organizations, which have the creation of an intangible capital as an important characteristic. The project management follows the society new patterns, in a participative and cooperative environment where the intellectual capital is an essential resource as well as the creation of value, the service quality, the experience exchange, the information share, the constant learning, the search for operational excellence and the contact with the client. In order to accomplish all this, the project manager must be capable in terms of competence, abilities and attitudes to be able to use the technology and the necessary tools for the accomplishment of his duties. In general, its up to the project manager to integrate and coordinate the processes, organize and synchronize the information, valuate the results, control the activities and chronograms, monitor the achievements, interact with the client, the directory and the related work times. Although, all these factors are related to determined variables that compose all the project management aspects itself. These variables focus especially in four aspects: time, cost, quality and structure. Each one of these variables must be controlled and monitored by the project manager to guarantee the diminution of the risk and failure. However, it's not only up to the project manager exclusively operational attributions. His contribution goes beyond this, influencing the clients and the directory area of the company, which emphasizes the importance of this professional towards the knowledge organizations.
